Terms & Conditions
PhoneShield
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using PhoneShield, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.
These terms are a legal agreement between you and SS Infotek Inc. We wrote them in simple language so everyone can understand.
License & Property
- Your License: We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use PhoneShield on your device.
- Restrictions: You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer the app or any part of it.
- Ownership: This license does not give you ownership. PhoneShield and its code are owned by SS Infotek Inc.
Gmail Service Authorization
If you choose to use the Gmail email alert service within PhoneShield, you authorize PhoneShield to use the Gmail API via OAuth to send intrusion alert emails on your behalf.
- Purpose: Authorization is solely used for sending intrusion alert emails from your own Gmail account to your designated recipient — either yourself or a personal backup email address specified by you. SS Infotek Inc. has no access to, and does not store, any email content or recipient information.
- Privacy: SS Infotek Inc. does not store your Gmail password and has no access to your email content or account beyond sending the specified alerts.
Limitation of Liability & Third-Party Services
1. Reliance on Third-Party Infrastructure
PhoneShield's core features, including email alerts and cloud backups, rely on third-party Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and services provided by Google (Gmail and Google Drive). You acknowledge and agree that:
- •SS Infotek Inc. is not responsible for any delivery failures, delays, or data loss caused by Google service outages, server downtime, or changes to Google's API policies.
- •The successful delivery of security reports is dependent on the device's connection to a functional data network (Wi-Fi or Cellular). We are not liable for failures caused by a lack of internet connectivity at the time of an intruder event.
- •You are solely responsible for maintaining valid OAuth authentication. If your Google account credentials change or if you revoke app permissions, the security features will cease to function, and SS Infotek Inc. bears no liability for resulting data loss.
2. Disclaimer of Warranties ("As-Is")
To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of Ontario, Canada, PhoneShield is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While PhoneShield is designed to assist in device security and evidence gathering, we do not guarantee that the app will prevent theft, ensure the recovery of a device, or identify every intruder. We expressly disclaim any warranty that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.
3. Cap on Liability
In no event shall SS Infotek Inc., its directors, or employees be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including but not limited to the loss of a physical device, loss of personal data, or unauthorized access to your Google account — arising out of your use or inability to use the application.
Prohibited Use & Anti-Spyware Policy
PhoneShield is strictly intended for personal use by the legal owner of the device to protect and recover their own property. You are expressly prohibited from:
- ✗ Installing PhoneShield on a device that you do not legally own.
- ✗ Using the application to monitor, track, or record any individual without their explicit, informed consent.
- ✗ Using the application for stalking, harassment, or unauthorized surveillance.
- ✗ Using captured photos for blackmail, harassment, or illegal purposes.
- ✗ Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app.
- ✗ Using the app in any way that violates local or international law.
Detection & Visibility
In compliance with Google Play's Stalkerware Policy, PhoneShield is not a "hidden" app. It does not hide its icon, and it will periodically display a persistent notification to the device user to ensure they are aware the security service is running. Any attempt to bypass these visibility features is a violation of these Terms.
Your Legal Responsibilities
You are responsible for using PhoneShield in accordance with all local, state, and national laws in your country.
- • PhoneShield is designed for personal device security only — to protect YOUR phone from unauthorized access.
- • In some regions, photographing people without their consent may be illegal. Check your local laws before using the app.
Biometric Data Consent
What is Collected: PhoneShield uses on-device AI to create numeric face embeddings for Owner Identity recognition.
Your Consent: By registering your Owner Identity, you consent to the creation and local storage of biometric data on your phone.
Data Stays on Phone: Face data never leaves your phone, and you may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your Owner Identity.
Use of Sensitive Permissions
To provide theft-prevention features (such as preventing unauthorized uninstallation or detecting SIM card removal), PhoneShield may require Device Administrator or Accessibility Service permissions.
- Purpose: These permissions are used exclusively to lock the device or trigger alerts when a physical breach is detected.
- Non-Monitoring: These services are never used to monitor your personal activity, messages, or calls.
- User Control: These permissions are optional and must be granted manually by the user. You can revoke these at any time through your Android System Settings.
Data Deletion & Retention
You have full control over the data generated by PhoneShield.
On-Device Data: You may delete security reports within the app at any time.
Cloud Data: Since evidence is stored in your personal Google Drive and Gmail, you may delete this data through your standard Google account interface.
Account Deletion: If you wish to revoke all access and delete your configuration data, you may do so via the in-app "Delete Account" feature or by contacting us at info@ssinfotek.com. Upon request, all OAuth tokens and configuration records associated with your device will be purged from our systems within 30 days.
Compliance with Privacy Laws (PIPEDA)
SS Infotek Inc. complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We act as a "Service Provider" only; we do not own your data. We collect the minimum information necessary to provide the service (e.g., your email for account identification) and utilize industry-standard encryption to protect it. For any privacy inquiries, residents of Ontario may contact our Privacy Officer at info@ssinfotek.com.
